The University of Mississippi (www.olemiss.edu) invites applications for the position of Director of University Police and Campus Safety. This position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. The Director of University Police and Campus Safety will be responsible for crime reduction and prevention, including related educational programming; campus law enforcement; traffic management; crisis/emergency response coordination; student/employee behavioral intervention; security for large-scale campus events (i.e. SEC football games, special events, dignitaries); policy and budget development, staff hiring, training, supervision and evaluation. In addition, the incumbent oversees the Emergency Management Operation. The successful candidate must be an experienced leader in campus law enforcement able to establish effective communication and relationships with varied constituencies, evidence of working collaboratively in a diverse campus environment, effectively manage department of 50+ employees and corresponding departmental budget.

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring Department.
1. Directs the Department administrative and support services, and special service functions within the University Police Department.
2. Oversees the Departmental Records System.
3. Administers budgets and develops resources as a signatory officer.
4. Supervises support staff and special services personnel.
5. Oversight of compliance regulations and accreditation standards; knowledge of Clery Act, VAWA, Campus SAVE Act and other legislative trends.
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in law enforcement (or related field) work
Certification: Certification with Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training within the first year of employment.
Licensure: Must have a valid State of Mississippi driver's license within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
Additional Requirements: Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
