Ensure the safety and security of municipal streets, buildings, residences, and neighborhoods. Responsibilities include maintaining readiness for emergency call response; responding to emergency calls when dispatched and taking proper action; conducting patrol; performing routine Police equipment maintenance; educating staff and public on crime safety/prevention; and performing other tasks related to Police Department activities.
Minimum 21 years of age; possess a High School Diploma or GED and 30 hours of college credit, (May be waived for specific prior law enforcement or military experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.) Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving history. No history of substance abuse, arrests or convictions; Previous law enforcement experience a plus but not necessary. Will train the right candidate. All candidates must possess high moral character with references. Candidates must be able to work 12 hour patrol shifts, weekends and holidays, pass physical and essential job functions tests, drug screening, a psychological evaluation, polygraph examination and background investigation.
LATERAL ENTRY PROGRAM: Must have 2 years of experience as paid full time Peace Officer from comparable size agency with no more than three years break in service, TCOLE Certified, starting pay commensurate to experience and training.
SALARY RANGE: $58,609 - $75,430 annually
(Police Cadets earn $4,505 monthly while in the Academy)
