
Lt. of Accreditation & Compliance
Creates and provides reports to obtain accredited status and achieve reaccreditation for the department. Coordinates with members of the department who have procedural or operational manuals under which they operate to ensure these are updated to reflect changes in accreditation standards and are current with law and best practices. Stays current on compliance and accreditation best practices by attending training and conferences related to these topics for professional development and departmental benefit. Collaborates with the training section to provide staff with training related to professionalism, compliance, and accreditation. Seeks out and receives approval from the Chief of Police for any procedural changes.
Manages the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation process for the department. Plans and administers the accreditation management system. Delegates responsibilities to members of the department in other areas related to meeting accreditation standards. Creates and drafts policies and procedures that meet and/or exceed the minimum requirements set forth by the CALEA. Makes informed recommendations to the Chief of Police regarding policies and procedures. Maintains the current directives in compliance with CALEA accreditation standards. Manages the Power DMS software system for the written directives (General Orders) related to CALEA standards.
Manages the Commission for Florida Accreditation (CFA) law enforcement accreditation process for the department. Plans and administers the accreditation management system. Delegates responsibilities to members of the department in other areas related to meeting accreditation standards. Creates and drafts policies and procedures that meet and/or exceed the minimum requirements set forth by the CFA. Makes informed recommendations to the Chief of Police regarding policies and procedures. Maintains the current directives in compliance with CFA accreditation standards. Manages the Power DMS software system for the written directives (General Orders) related to CFA standards.
Maintains and develops compliance-oriented programs and training for the police department. Develops audit and inspection schedules, conducts inspections and audits of departmental processes, units, and sections, including maintenance of records, while assessing compliance and effectiveness including within the property and evidence section. Compiles, creates and submits the police department's portion of the annual Institutional Effectiveness (SACS) Report for the University. Conducts the annual Bias-Based Profiling Review. Conducts the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDPA) monthly reporting. Coordinates training for new and existing officers and staff to ensure that they are aware of policies and procedures related to the accreditation/reaccreditation process. Distributes legal updates and guidance on law enforcement best practices to all sworn officers. Reviews body worn camera and dash camera footage for compliance of departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
Supervises reporting USPS & A&P staff, completes employee performance evaluations, provides opportunities for professional development, approves time/leave reports, approves/arranges travel and assists with hiring processes
Master's degree and two years of sworn law enforcement experience; or a bachelor's degree and four years of sworn law enforcement experience; or an AA/AS degree and six years of sworn law enforcement experience; or a high school diploma and eight years of sworn law enforcement experience.
Currently a sworn law enforcement officer in the state of Florida or are you a sworn officer in another state and have the ability to become sworn in the state of Florida after being hired.

Ability to prepare and maintain technical reports and record accurate information.
Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position.
Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
Ability to use a firearm proficiently per standards set by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC).
Ability to utilize self-defense procedures and perform CPR first aid.
Applicable knowledge and ability to interpret and apply state and federal rules and regulations; to include knowledge of the Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) process, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) process, and the ability to keep abreast of changes for compliance.
Applicable knowledge of the university jurisdiction, names and locations of university departments/buildings, and the names of streets.
Knowledge of principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.
Knowledge of the concept, principles and practices of management.
Certified to operate an NCIC/FCIC II Terminal.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to hire.
