
Director of Law Enforcement Services
The Director of Law Enforcement Services provides overall leadership and plans, evaluates, recommends, implements, controls, and directs the police service functions of the Department under the broad direction provided by applicable laws, policies, ordinances, rules, and regulations adopted by the Village, the State of Illinois, or other authorities. The Director of Law Enforcement Services ensures accountability within the Department and to the community. The Director of Law Enforcement Services, commonly referred to as Chief of Police, reports to the Village Manager and is a member of the Village Manager’s leadership team.
A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience, preferably
in a community of comparable stature along with a minimum
of five (5) years of increasingly responsible senior level management experience in a law enforcement agency. A bachelor’s degree in criminal
justice, management, public/business administration, public administration, or related field is required. A master’s degree in a related field, or law degree, is strongly preferred.
