The Police HR Coordinator performs professional level work related to the development, implementation and coordination of one or more of the following functions: recruitment, compliance and human resources information system functional lead for recruiting and onboarding. Responsible for supporting the organization in several areas of human resources, which may include coordinating employment activities, administering employee records, managing vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, recommending and coordinating employee training activities and administering recruitment program.
The salary range for this position is $22.07- $31.97 per hour with a hiring range of $22.07 - $27.02, depending on qualifications and experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manages and coordinates talent acquisition including, recruitment, screening, selection, background checks and onboarding process working with Human Resources and hiring managers. Ensuring process is equitable and in compliance with state and federal EEO laws and guidelines.
Responsible for Police HR systems that include applicant tracking and onboarding system and workflow. Advises managers on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs, and procedures.
Coordinates and facilitates new employee orientation. Carries out administrative work involving recruitment and new employee training and maintains related records. May develop, analyze and propose improvements to human resource functions. Monitors the recruiting budget and recommends sourcing strategies to managers and business partners. Participate in career outreach and job fairs.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists with HR recruiting metrics, trends and audits; employee events (recognition) and special events; Employee Recognition Program; and program/policy updates.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of applicable Human Resource federal, state and local laws including equal employment opportunity regulations, FLSA, employment law and records retention.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Strong organizational and attention to detail required. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel within the City and the general public in a positive and professional manner. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment as well as make decisions within the scope of assigned authority. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all areas.

Education and/or experience:
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience relative to human resources and the essential functions of the position required, including scheduling. Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related field is preferred.
Licensure and/or certifications:
PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
Material and equipment directly used:
Standard business and professional tools and equipment, various computer software programs including, but not limited to, cloud-based software applications, HRIS system, Microsoft Office Suite
Working conditions and physical requirements:
Typical office environment, which requires some bending, sitting and on the phone for extended periods of time, reaching and repetitive keyboard motion. Light physical effort required by moving and positioning objects up to 15 pounds occasionally. Ability to travel to various city facilities and locations.
