CALEA continues as the gold standard by promoting professionalism in public safety though the promulgation of standards and the administration of an accreditation program. In addition to maintaining a contemporary body of standards, the Commission is committed to advancing the assessment process to ensure the best return on an agency’s investment. The 4-year assessment process includes annual remote web-based assessments conducted by Compliance Service Members (CSM). The annual assessments improve process consistency as well as agency compliance with applicable standards.
In the 4-year cycle, file review is conducted annually during remote web-based assessments. This process is conducted by Compliance Service Members (CSM). CSMs are another point of contact for agencies during the assessment cycle.
