CALEA Moves
to New Office
Space
On March 1st CALEA
made a short move to a larger and more attractive first-floor office space in an
adjacent building. The 75% increase in space provides CALEA with much needed
additional offices and meeting rooms, as well as an expanded conference room,
production room, kitchen, and records-storage area, with accommodation for
future growth. more

her time for CALEA. Elaine served on the SRIC Committee and review Committee
C. The CALEA family thanks her for her service and wishes her continued
success.

Reaccreditation Files
The successful
reaccreditation assessment depends on the candidate agency’s ability to verify
consistent performance over a three-year period, particularly in time sensitive
reports and activities. CALEA assessors must verify this performance primarily
through a review of agency reaccreditation files, whether that file is slated
for off-site review, compliance panel review, or on-site review. more

Two Risk Management
Studies
Support Accreditation
It has been said
by some law enforcement agencies that they are not interested in achieving (or
maintaining) CALEA accreditation because they “can’t afford it”. These agencies
might not be factoring into the cost equation the cost-benefit ratio of CALEA
accreditation and their liability risk exposure. Two recent risk management
studies by state league-sponsored self-insured pooling organizations indicate
that accreditation
significantly reduces the risk factors associated
with police operations.
