The
author, Mike Muth, is a Lieutenant with the Maryland State Police detailed to
the Interpol-USNCB in Washington, DC, as an Assistant Chief in charge of the
State Liaison Division.

Between January 1, 2001
and April 30, 2001, the following agencies joined the accreditation
process by signing initial contracts or ordering application packages. more Reaccreditation
Proofs
Once
accredited, an agency is scheduled for reaccreditation and presentation to the
Commission based on the anniversary date of its initial accreditation award.
Future assessments of the agency are scheduled based on this award date
and not the date of the previous assessment. more |
Staff Inspections and
Accreditation
A staff inspection is
the purposeful gathering of information throughout the agency, then presenting
it in a useable form so the CEO of the agency can make decisions.
Depending on the size of the agency, the CEO may also obtain information
from staff conferences, personal observations, reports, and other sources. more
Accreditation for Public Safety
Training Academies
Since
1999 CALEA, with the assistance of client agencies and outside experts, has been
developing an accreditation program for Public Safety Training Academies.
The Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation (PSTAA) program was
developed in response to requests for this service from training academies in
the Training Certification program. more

A new CALEA video
“Accreditation: Professional Excellence” is available.
The eight-minute VHS tape was produced by LETN and provides an overview
of the accreditation process. The video costs $25 plus shipping and can be
obtained by calling the CALEA office or through the CALEA
Online Store.

Dorris Certain
is a quiet and friendly person who avoids taking credit for the many things she
has done. Dorris grew up on a farm in Tennessee and graduated from the
University of Tennessee in 1976 with a degree in Criminal Justice.
