D. Brown Jim was the chief of police in Streetsboro, Ohio for 22 years before coming to the nation's capital in 1996 to join the CALEA staff as the Associate Director. Team Leader training, quality control, and program development are some of Jim's responsibilities. He led the Streetsboro Police Department through national accreditation, first achieved in 1990, and reaccreditation in 1995. He has a masters degree in public administration from Kent State University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Before joining the staff, he was one of CALEA's most active assessment team leaders and served as committee chair for the Third Edition of Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies Task Force. Jim is credentialed by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) - International as Certified Protection Professional (CPP). He is an accomplished sailor and rides a Gold Wing motorcycle.
