2005 CALEA BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

November 2004

 

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) is pleased to announce the 2005 CALEA Board of Commissioners.  

CALEA was established as a private, non-profit accrediting authority in 1979 by the four major law enforcement executive associations: International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP); National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE); National Sheriffs' Association (NSA); and Police Executive Research Forum (PERF). The Executive Directors of these four associations appoint members to the Commission annually.  The Commission has 21 members; 11 of whom are law enforcement practitioners, with the remaining 10 from the public and private sectors.  Service on the Commission is voluntary, with Commissioners appointed to a term of three years.  The Commission meets three times each year.

The following seven Commissioners were reappointed to another full term: Ron Ace (Commission Vice Chairperson), Chief of Police, Concord, California; Louis M. Dekmar, Chief of Police, LaGrange, Georgia; Ted G. Kamatchus, Sheriff of Marshall County, Marshalltown, Iowa; John D. LaFlamme, Executive Director Alberta Gaming/Liquor Commission (Retired), St. Albert, Alberta, Canada; Patrick Oliver (Commission Treasurer), Chief of Police, Fairborn, Ohio; Mary Ann Viverette, Chief of Police, Gaithersburg, Maryland; and, Grant S. Wegner, Kane County Circuit Court Judge, St. Charles, Illinois.

The remaining thirteen CALEA Commissioners are: Charles P. Austin, Sr., City Manager, Columbia, South Carolina; Jimmie L. Dotson, Chief of Police (Retired), Chattanooga, Tennessee; Donald F. Eslinger, Sheriff of Seminole County, Sanford, Florida; Stanley Glanz (Commission Secretary), Sheriff of Tulsa County, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Dr. John D. Glover, Vice President of Corporate Security Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (Retired), Davie, Florida; Professor Jack R. Greene, Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts; Director Robert Greenlaw, Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch, Ridgewood, NJ; Colonel Richard W. Holden, North Carolina Highway Patrol (Retired), Raleigh, North Carolina; Phil E. Keith, Chief of Police (Retired), Knoxville, Tennessee; James M. O’Dell, (Commission President and Chairperson), Chief of Police, Kettering, Ohio; James N. Robey, Howard County Executive, Ellicott City, Maryland; Sam I. Sasaki, Jr., City Manager, Newport, Oregon; Honorable Patricia S. Ticer, Senator, 30th District, Alexandria, Virginia.

Leaving the Commission on December 31, 2004 is Commissioner Eduardo Gonzalez, Retired Director of the U.S. Marshals Service.
