CALEA RECOGNITION PROGRAM
Program Standards Benefits Eligibility Cost Process Enrollment Initial CALEA Recognition and Annual Continuation Fees The initial recognition fee is due when the agency signs its CALEA Recognition Agreement. The fee includes the CALEA Accreditation Compliance Express-Recognition (CACE-R) software program. CACE-R provides an agency with a powerful tool to complete the steps necessary to achieve CALEA Recognition status and serves as a valuable asset in the overall management of the CALEA Accreditation Process. When an agency is ready for its initial on-site assessment, the agency is invoiced for the estimated cost of the on-site, which covers the cost of travel, lodging, and per diem for the assessment team, as well as other related costs. Once an agency receives its initial CALEA Recognition award, it pays an Annual Continuation Fee, and is invoiced for the estimated cost of its next on-site assessment prior to the on-site. Agencies of any size can become CALEA Recognized; however only agencies with 24 or fewer full-time employees may remain indefinitely in the CALEA Recognition Program past the three-year award period. Agencies with 25 or more full-time employees must transition to the Law Enforcement Accreditation Program within their three-year award period and pay a reduced initial accreditation fee. The following chart depicts current initial Recognition, Recognition Continuation, and Transition to Accreditation fees.
CALEA Recognition Agreement Extension and Fees The initial CALEA Recognition Agreement between the agency and CALEA is for 24 months: however most agencies are able to complete self-assessment within a much shorter time. If the agency has not completed self-assessment or scheduled its initial on-site by the end of the 24th month, the agency may request an annual extension of the Agreement at a cost of 55% of the CALEA Recognition fee then in effect. |
